This course will dive deeper into using hand tools in traditional woodworking. Each student will use hand saws, planes, chisels, and layout tools to create mortise and tenon, half lap, and dovetail joints. This calls will cover the basics of furniture construction, when and where to apply each joint, and the basics of sharpening edged tools such as planes and chisels. This skills will all be put to use in creating a wooden square and wooden mallet that can then be used for future woodworking projects. This class is ideal for those with some woodworking experience (especially those who have taken any of the MAKE Fundamentals classes).
The course will be taught by local craftsman Aaron Lane of Lane Woodworking.
