Beading & Embroidery Basics

  • MAKEbhm 4000 3rd Avenue South Birmingham, AL, 35222 United States (map)

Tuesday & Thursday, February 24 & 26, 6 - 8pm

In this class, students will be led by textile artist, Jackie Kim, in making a hand-sewn embroidered name tag out of fabric or an embroidered pin. Students should have basic sewing skills ie. know how to thread a needle, sew a running stitch, prior embroidery experience is great but not necessary).  There will be two 2-hour sessions where students will be instructed on a few embroidery stitching techniques, typography styles, and guided to creatively individualize their projects. There will be step-by-step instructions provided so that everyone works towards completing a project in the two working sessions.

About the Instructor

Jackie is a sewing enthusiast who embroiders, quilts, and creates a variety of textile art. You can view some of her work on IG and FB @jackiekimstudio. She also paints in acrylic and watercolors, and just enjoys the creative process and making by hand.
